For Whom do you write?

We write for pleasure. We write to get those annoying voices in our heads to shut up for just a few minutes, then miss them when they’re gone. We write so our fingers will stop itching. We’re addicted to writing, and we love it.

We authors are selfish beings and we write for ourselves, but who is our audience? Do you have a specific person in mind?

I write for me, or rather the little girl who will become me. I was inspired by book series like The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede, The Lost Years of Merlin by T.A. Barron, and The Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce. I read them all and books like them voraciously. Today, they’re still my books of choice. I will look in the Young Adult Section for a new book before I look at the “adult” books. I would be honored to be counted in the ranks of authors like Patricia C. Wrede, T.A. Barron, and Tamora Pierce. I write for the little girl who is like me and loves dragons, magic and love.

Tell me about your audience. For whom do you write? Do you write for your parents? Your partner? Your husband or wife?

Be the first to like.
